WORLD TEACHERS DAY 2020

5th Oct 2020

On this designated World Teachers Day I’d like to say THANK YOU / GO RAIBH MAITH AGAIBH to all our teachers in school and to our support staff for their hard work in these challenging days. They have been in school almost every day since 17th August and have managed to provide an environment in which our pupils feel safe and happy. All staff spend time daily doing all they can to implement the DE COVID-19 RESTART GUIDANCE in terms of cleaning and sanitising surfaces throughout the day, overseeing pupil hand washing and drying, protecting the designated bubbles where possible as well as developing a recovery curriculum and skilfully guiding pupils on their learning journey. God bless you all and keep you and your families safe and well.

A Prayer for Teachers by Mary Murphy

Jesus, thank you for all those men and women who embrace with love the vocation of teaching. Thank you for those teachers who, informed by your love of little ones, devote their working lives to throwing open the windows of knowledge for their young charges, encouraging them to fly as high as God intended them to fly. Jesus, you loved children for their innocence and joy, their simple goodness, their natural ability to love and forgive unconditionally. You cherished them and warned all adults, under pain of spiritual death, never to harm them in any way. Thank you for those dedicated men and women who teach through the medium of love, never through the corrosive method of fear. Thank you for those whose classrooms are a haven of peace and tranquillity, of laughter, creativity and joy. Thank you for those teachers who understand that, although they may not be able to fully illuminate the dark place in which some children are forced to live, they must never by their words or actions make that dark place darker. Jesus, reach out to dedicated teachers everywhere and bless their lives.
