PARENT EMBARKS ON FUNDRAISING EFFORT TO SUPPORT SCHOOL IN DEVELOPING PUPIL RESILIENCE, MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL -BEING.

27th Feb 2021

Weʼre raising £2,700 to support children's mental health and resilience. I started on New Year's Day and am running/walking for 100 days in a row.

Story

I started on New Year's Day and am running/walking for 100 days in a row to raise money to support children's mental health and resilience .

Lockdown has been very difficult for children. They have been taken away from their friends, the fun and the day to day support of the school environment.

Outside of school life, their sporting clubs and various hobbies have also been closed down.

It will take a toll on their mental health long after the Covid-19 pandemic subsides.

St Brigid's/Bunscoil Naomh Bríd in Tirkane have recognised this and are planning to roll out the PATHS® Programme for Schools. This resource deals many aspects of children's health and well-being as well as developing emotional awareness, self- control and interpersonal problem-solving skills.

The PATHS Programme will support school staff to achieve their aim of meeting the needs of the whole child.

The resource costs over £2,500 and with education budgets already spread thin, I have set out to raise as much money as possible to enable the school to roll out the PATHS Programme. Your support for my efforts will in turn support the school in meeting the needs of the children now and in the future.

I am running and walking over 10,000 steps per day with a mixture of walking and running.

Exercise and getting out in our beautiful countryside is very important to clear our heads from the struggles of everyday life, I encourage you to do the same.

Please donate what you can. Every penny will be going to help children learn to cope with what life throws at them.
